Angus Macpherson comments on EA plans
The Environment Agency (EA) risks "punishing victims" rather than criminals by taking powers to cancel incorrect packaging recovery notes (PRNs).
That warning comes from Angus Macpherson, director of online PRN marketplace t2e.
He spoke out after the EA wrote to sector reprocessors, exporters, schemes and producers to say that, from 1 July, it will cancel PRN and the PERNs used for exports where operators were “unco-operative” or their non-compliance “is of such a significant risk to the regime”. There was also a threat of prosecutions.
